I'm sad...

"Mom, how do you spell 'Paige'?"
"Hey, Mom, let's add a heart."
"Hey, Mom, let's draw a seashell, too."

"Let's pray for Paige's family."
I now know what it feels like to read someone else's blog, pray for them, and for them to die. Her name was Paige Stibgen and she was a tough cookie that had leukemia. She is survived by her loving family and lots of friends. She was 11.
I can't get her out of my mind...

  1. did you know paige personally? we didn't - we knew her through her dad's cousin - but she touched my heart - that's for sure! just like you and noah have - i find it amazing how GOD is using even the internet to let us know that we are not alone out here - there are CHRISTIANS everywhere - loving, praying and grieving with each other - even those we haven't met here on earth - boy won't heaven be a GRAND party! :) GOD BLESS you, jason & em! :) and keep your posts coming - you always inspire me to hug a little tighter!:)

  2. Holy Smokes! I just read Paige's story and I, too, went to Haines Middle School in St. Charles, IL!!!
    What a small, small world.
I imagine it is quite different to know someone through blog world, fall in love with them, and watch them die than it is to know that person personally.
You knew why people fell in love with Noah...and they fell in love with you too!

  3. I too, have followed Paige's journey and was so struck by her death. It is heartbreaking on one hand, but the most joyful occasion on the other. She is free from pain. She is free from the trials of this world. I have watched her life- so full of activities and friends and God and amazing opportunities to touch others with her strength and spirit. It's like baby Noah...some people do more in their short life spans than many others do their whole life long.
I have been praying for Paige's family to be overwhelmed with comfort and to feel that peace that passes all understanding- even in light of death. In turn, I hope that they will know that God knew the number of days that Paige had on earth and none of the events of her life have taken Him by surprise. I look forward to the day when they will be reunited with her in Heaven and they will all look back and see that this pain- their heartache and grief- was a perfect part of God's plan.
Prayers for the Stibgen's {and YOU and YOURS} as we head into the seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas celebration. It will be tough...but God is bigger than our deepest sorrows and I know He is able to pour out comfort and even Joy.
He IS the reason my heart rejoices. It is a blessing to carry the burden alongside others on their walk in life- knowing that God is in ALL things.

  6. Adrienne,

Thank you for sharing Paige's blog. I read the blog from beginning to end with tears streaming down my face. Her site is on the same site as a little boy here in Castle Rock that has cancer. I've been reading his blog for awhile now. His name is Travis. Please pray for him and his family. And, anyone else that is reading this, I think he could use everyones prays. It sounds like he needs a miracle!
