The Age of Aquarius

There are people who check their astrology chart or reading every day.  They are seeking insight, direction, wisdom, and encouragement, among a slew of other things...

Imagine this:  an intimate consult for the past, present and future, with the One who knows EVERY. SINGLE. THING. EVER.

No crystal ball necessary.  Not even the palm of your hand or an article from a long lost loved one.  No fees.  Just free advice and direction.  EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

Just you and the Creator of the Whole Universe, sitting face to face, you quietly listening while He is ever telling you how much He loves you, His plans for you, telling you stories of old and giving you glimpses of hope for the future...one He is fully aware of, one He can handle despite our own chaos.

As far as the palm reading goes, He says we are engraved on the palm of His hand.  You don't even need a hand!  So that's literally good if yours has been cut off or if you were born without one.

Has your kid ever come home from school with marker or pen written all over their hand to remember something?  Well, guess what?!  God's Sharpie really is permanent!

He remembers you because HE made you.  And He thinks you're totally awesome!  For REALS!

And those constellations that are strung together in the beautiful, black, dark night, what about those?  Do they direct us, guide us, show us the way?  Well, long ago before there was electricity, when the nights were actually dark and the stars were bright, they were hung there for direction, but physical direction, like God's version of your GPS.  And, clearly they did have meaning because some star studiers were well aware when a new, bright star appeared the night the Savior of the World was born.  The knew what it meant and they were wise to seek out the One it proclaimed.  They headed that direction, the way their "GPS" told them to go.

I get cranky when people say, "God is silent.  He just isn't really saying anything."

This is a load of CRAP.  God is constantly speaking to us through His Word.  Open your Bible.  The past, present, and future is in there.  You may not see the specifics of whether you should work at this location or move to that state or if that guy is the one you should marry.  But, the wisdom is there.  And the One who gives the wisdom is the Author.

Get to know Him.

Why seek the faulty insight of humans through horoscopes and other venues when you can go straight to the Source, the very One who designed you, the One who knows you by name, Created you ON PURPOSE, and has beauty in store every time He thinks of you?

A Fun Opportunity

So, I'm getting ready to re-launch my non-profit organization, Bevy, so I have been cleaning up some of my accounts.  I had neglected Twitter for several months because, well, frankly, I'm on Facebook more and hadn't really learned the ins and outs of Twitter...still don't really know them...

Anyway, yesterday I was updating my Twitter "bio" if you will, and took out the "Radio Show Host" part since I don't host my own show anymore.  Remember this:

Anyway, then, earlier this afternoon my friend Ginger sent me a text and asked if I wanted to jump in as a guest co-host on her friend's radio show tomorrow morning.

So, Jenny Dean Schmidt has graciously asked me to co-host her www.channelmom.com show bright and early on St. Patrick's Day.  And she didn't even know I'm a little Scotch-Irish...

We had a chance to speak earlier this afternoon and it was a great time of hearing each others' stories.  I'm looking forward to meeting her in person tomorrow as we interview two moms who are also both authors.

...And their topics:  Parenting and Food.

Huh....I'm a parent and I love to eat, so this should work out seemingly :)

Jenny was so excited because she had spent a little time on this blog and my Closet Eater Blog, so thinks I'll be a good fit for talking with the moms tomorrow.

We'll be interviewing Anne Wiggins, co-author of "Parenting from the Heights" and Beth Aldrich, author of "Real Moms Love to Eat."

So, who's with me?  Who wants to wake up at the crack of dawn and cheer me on LIVE?  Huh?  Huh?

Just go here tomorrow morning at 8:00 am Mountain Time:  www.channelmom.com and go to the channelmom Radio page and follow the instructions.

And, if you are local, it'll be on 93.7 FM

Have you ever sat through a movie trailer that intrigued you enough to want to go see it?  If you answered, "yes," that's the point.  It's meant to draw you in so you can learn the whole story.

And then the feature film starts rolling.  The lights are dimmed, you have your goodies in hand, and everyone has silenced their phones, except that one guy.  You sit there, let's say for 20 minutes of this 2 hour feature length presentation, and the plot is building, you are sucked in, and the thought of having to leave even to go to the bathroom you stave off by tightly crossing your legs and denying yourself any more sips of your beverage...you just don't want to miss out on the story about to be revealed.

Now imagine at the 25 minute mark the lights switch on and the theater manager walks into the packed venue and states, "That's it, people.  The director and producer had big dreams and every intention for this film to be a complete story, but the actors and crew quit showing up after only two weeks of shooting.  So, anyway, we hope you enjoyed the part you were able to see.  Have a good night and thanks for coming..."

I suspect there would be some disgruntled patrons, to say the least.

Imagine if that's what life is like when we don't want to tell our story, don't think it's important to tell, or are waiting for the unlovely, difficult parts to pass before we share.

There is a bigger picture.  We may not know or understand all the details, but it is a story which is unfolding every single day around the world.  A story being told through our lives.  The God of the whole Universe, who loves us with every part of His heart, desires to express His love for all creation through the telling of our stories.

Because He made us...on purpose.

Can you imagine a world where we stop comparing ourselves to those around us, wishing our lives were a little more like theirs and instead began telling our stories, laced with all the imperfection, pain, and beauty, for the good of God's bigger story?

It's time we all stop cheating the world of who God designed us to be.

It's time to start living the story.

(Here's a little taste of what God's put on my heart.  You'll find out more when I launch my non-profit, soon and very soon...)
