I want to learn, live, and love with intention, finding beauty and thankfulness in each day. Intention with God, family, myself, and everyone else on this journey.

So, have you ever done anything crazy while your spouse is away? I mean, something that isn't bad, but will be a BIG surprise? Well, when I got home this morning from working out (my parents are staying with us for a few days so Em was not alone...) Em greeted me at the door and said she wanted me to trim her hair. A "trim" usually means we play beauty parlor on my bathroom counter and I literally trim 1/4" off her ends, just to keep them healthy. She told us a while ago she wanted her hair to go down to her buns. Well, today we sat up on the stool in the kitchen to play beauty parlor. Em said she wanted it really short. I asked her if she was sure. She insisted she wanted me to chop it off! So, I did! I wanted a cute angle, short in back, longer in front, so I proceded to chop. Well, after a six inch piece of her golden locks dropped to the floor, I got a huge smile on my face and asked her if she wanted to go to a real hair salon for a real haircut. (Are you kidding? I know where my gifts lie, and I'll be the first to admit I'm no stylist!) We got an appointment for 2 hours from the time I hacked off the first little section, so we had lunch and painted fingers and toes. Em was so excited and all I could think was, "Oh man! Your dad's coming home in a few hours from Utah! What on earth is he going to think?!"
We went to the salon where I got my last haircut before we laid Noah before the Lord. They don't do kids, but he saved my hiney! Em was a perfect little client. She sat still and smiled HUGE the whole time. She loved it! She actually keeps walking around the house saying how much she loves her hair...Thank God it wasn't a horror haircut story! Anyway, Jason will be home in about an hour and a half...it'll be a surprise, but a good one. When the cat's away, the mice play!

ReplyDeleteI just had to tell you that your previous post had me choking back my own tears. March happens to be an emotional month for me as I mark my daughter's birthday without her on earth each year. I find it doesn't get easier- just different, and your post struck such a chord with me today. I blogged about my little girl and the different person I am in life because of her life AND death. I never would have dreamed I would be a young mom living with the burden of grief from day to day- ever. Yet here I am. I am proud of the fact that I have 'bucked the traditional grieving process', and yet I find there are things that connect all parents who walk this same road. I think of you and am inspired by your words, and taken back to my own beginning so often when I stop by to read your thoughts. I just wanted you to know that. I know that you will never forget Noah...but feel it's just as important for you to know that many of us who you may never meet on earth will never forget him either. My best to you as you seek to make the most of all God has given to you- with your marriage, your adorable little Em, and with the memories and treasure that Noah is and always will be in your lives.
It's so gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteawww, please let Em know how gorgeous her new hair-do is!! I really like it alot!! She looks sooooo cute!!! Well thats it Em.... little lady bug, you pushed me over the edge!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had my hair cut since a very severe accident I was in with my mother. We were hit head on, on the highway last May.. it put us both in wheel chairs and we are still struggling to recover. (we can walk again but its still a long recovery).
During this recovery time my hair has grown greatly. Ive made numerous appointments to have it cut but I have canceled every one. The hair means a lot to me, it marks a very long recovery time and many milestones.
If little Em(and mommy), after everything you all have been through can sit in that big girl chair and have her beautiful locks cut then why can't I?
Em you look absolutely beautiful, it was an excellent choice. I am so glad you love your new do.
Thanks for the Courage,
Love,
Mandy77

em is a little stunner with her new hair.My daughter was exactly the same she had her hair cut a few weeks ago and went a short bob,she looked in every mirror she possibly could for about a week looking at herself. im sure you hubby loves it x
ReplyDeleteThe haircut is adorable... wonder what Dad will say. I am sure he will love it too.
ReplyDeleteOh course all of us women are drooling over it! It's adoreable...but there is something about a daddy and his daughters long locks. My husband is always very cautious about how he responds to my impromptu cuts of our daughters hair. He can't deny that it looks adoreable...but he is always wondering how it would look long too:-) Dad's are funny about stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteNow, if you would have joined her with a short bob do...dad might have a different reaction:-)
I love Em's new look! My niece Emily had to have the same Madeline haircut at Em's age. What a fun girly day.
ReplyDeleteShe looks so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love it! It makes me want to get Brylie's cut!
ReplyDeleteEmily's hair is just too cute!

ReplyDeleteJason and Ade,
ReplyDeleteHey it's me...Em looks so cute!
I didn't think she could get any cuter than she already is but she did. I just wanted you guys to know how much everyday I miss Noah and that I have been thinking about you. I watched the video tonight I think for the 100th time so I could see him again. I cried again and my heart is still so sad and I wish he was here. Sometimes it seems so unreal and completely unfair. God must seriously hold you both in the highest regard to have given you such an unfathomable thing. You have walked through this with such beauty and such grace. May God fill your sadness with joy and outpour on you more blessings than you know what to do with.
You are always in my thoughts and prayers.
Much love!
